The New Horizons support group for women who have experienced family violence has been meeting monthly over the past 2 years.
From September for 3 months the women have been involved in creating a textile panel to hang in the safe space at Colac Court. The theme of the panel is moving from darkness into light as women address issues of family violence.
Women will often sit for up to 4 hours in the Court house safe space, waiting to be called into the courtroom, and will now have the colourful mural to study.
Three local textile artists from the Makers Space, Sue Tate, Irene Pagram and Jane Bear facilitated the creation of the panel, using felt-making techniques.
Rural Arts Victoria funded the project.
Colac court house is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday
