Alcohol and Other Drugs

Colac Area Health offers many programs that can support you, or someone you love that is affected by alcohol and drug (AOD) use and wanting to make a change.

AOD use can be a coping strategy that people have adapted to help deal with pain, trauma, grief/loss and stress in their lives.

The service is for individuals and families from 18+ and there is no cost.

What we do:

Colac Area Health provides Alcohol and Drug Assessment, Counselling and Case Management to individuals and families. The service is provided by skilled AOD Clinicians.

Assessment is the process for identifying needs and treatment goals. Clinicians seek to look at the whole person and encourage support services or family to be part of the process.

Counselling services address the impact of substance use/abuse on an individual and/or their family’s lives. Clinicians recognises an individual’s strengths and skills and assist in making change through developing skills to effectively deal with stress, problem solving and coping with difficult emotional states such as anger, anxiety and depression.

Case Management provides referrals to detox and rehab and relevant services.
