Freeza

FReeZA is an innovative youth development program providing young people between the ages of 12 and 25 with the opportunity to attend affordable and accessible music and cultural events. FReeZA attracts over 140,000 young people each year to events that take place in safe, fully supervised, drug, alcohol and smoke-free venues across the Victoria.

The goal of Freeza is to enable young people’s participation in community life through leading the planning, development and delivery of music, cultural and recreational events.

Program is modelled on a youth participation approach where young people join a local freeza committee and lead the planning and staging of music, cultural and recreational events in the community. By staging events, freeza committees are also making valuable contributions to the cultural life of their community. Provides safe and secure environments for young people that are drug and alcohol free.

FReeZA provides a platform for young people aged 12-25 to design, plan and implement cultural, music and arts events throughout the Colac-Otway Shire. There will be heaps of opportunities for leadership roles, as well as event organizing, planning and management. Being a part of a FReeZA committee will also build your self-confidence, allow you to create and develop professional relationships, give you opportunities to learn sound and lighting production for gigs, photography and design and provide opportunities to explore various education and employment pathways, as well as making loads of friends along the way!

Plus it will be the ideas that you dream up that we will bring to life. So if you think there is something missing in your community, maybe you and your friends think there should be more arts events or workshops on, or perhaps you want more sports activities like BMX, parkour or skateboarding or maybe you want to put on a festival? Then sign up for FReeZA and we can work together to get your ideas out of your head and into the community!

Please let the Youth Engagement Officer Scarlet know if you are interested in becoming involved.
